Prof. B.S. Murty works on the broad areas of structure-property correlations, phase transformations, nanostructured materials, metallic glasses, quasicrystalline materials, intermetallics, grain refinement and in-situ composites. His research involves extensive use of theoretical concepts of thermodynamics as well as a variety of experimental techniques, most notably high energy ball milling, rapid solidification, differential scanning calorimetry, x-ray diffraction and electron microscopy.
Apart from research, Prof. Murty also takes courses at both graduate and undergraduate levels on phase transformations, thermodynamics, nanomaterials and materials characterization.
